Beautiful Mia Modeling the Jelly Roll Skirt

I sent Katie a Jelly Roll skirt and she got some very pretty pictures of her daughter Mia modeling it for me!

Not only does Katie take beautiful family pictures (check out her blog Katie Hatch Photography), she also does amazing shots of Puerto Rico's beautiful landscapes!

Katie is an uber-talented Mom who does it all! At her MiaMoo Designs blog - she sews, posts fun felt food tutorials, is always uploading wonderful pictures of her beautiful children, and even sells her pretty Swarovski hair clips like the one she make for Serenity!

Here's one more picture of lovely Mia!

Treasures for Tots Etsy Store

I just finished adding a few clippies and a pretty Jelly Roll skirt to my Treasures for Tots Etsy store!

For the next few weeks I'll be adding more items to my store. I'm trying to make sure all my items are pre-made before listing so shipping times will be fast. That also means I won't always make the exact same clippie.

Most of the clippies I sell will be in sold in mismatched set of two. But I do have some big pretty crochet flowers that are perfect for all kinds of outfits - including attaching to hats or headbands!

I've put a Jelly Roll skirt in my store too, but soon I hope I'll have more - including different styles!

I plan to list a few more tutus again soon!

Have fun!

Serenity's Silhouette

I got this shot of Serenity totally by accident today! I'm still learning how to use my Canon 40D camera. I was fiddling around with it and changing the settings to take some pictures of Serenity's new beautiful Swarovski flower clip by MiaMoo Designs and I got this shot!

Serenity was standing on her stepping stool in front of an East-facing window in my living room, and I snapped off a couple of shots (no flash) while making adjustments on my camera. It was in the afternoon too - but I wonder what the results would be with the morning sun?

AnyHoo, then I experimented with a few different black and white actions in Photoshop - and this was the result!

I just love it! I especially love her little belly poking out and those adorable corkscrew curls sticking out every which way all over her head!

Do you have a favorite silhouette picture of your child? If not, trying plopping them in front of a bright window and snap away!

Then use the online editing software, Picnik if you don't have Photoshop to turn it black and white. How easy is that?!

If you try it, I would love to see your results! Come share them on my Facebook Fan page!

Have fun!

Jelly Roll Sundress!

Katie from MiaMoo Designs took my Jelly Roll skirt tutorial and turned it into the most adorable sundress for her lovely daughter Mia!!

How beautiful!! I just absolutely love how it turned out - and now I want to make one for Serenity!

Above is a picture of Serenity wearing her beautiful Swarovski flower clip Katie made to match Serenity's Jelly Roll skirt!

Here's pretty little Bri from Grow With Me Gifts showing off her pretty Jelly Roll Skirt I made, and her darling initial tee from Julie at ZozoBugBaby!

So Sweet!

I'll have the Jelly Roll skirt Serenity's modeling in this picture for sale soon!

Have fun!

LadyBug Clippie: Tutorial and GIVEAWAY!

This is a very simple and affordable way to make clippies for your little girl's hair - especailly if you're like me and can't make pretty bows! They make wonderful presents for a niece, godchild, or grandchild too!

Don't forget to enter the LadyBug Clippie GIVEAWAY!

Details are near the bottom of this post!

REMEMBER: you can always click on a picture to ZOOM in!

Materials needed:
3/8" grosgrain ribbon
(2) 1 3/4" metal clips
2 ladybug appliques
glue gun & glue sticks
scissors
x-acto knife or razor blade
lighter or fray check
4 1/2" w x 3" l piece of card stock

Shopping Tips:

Buy your supplies on sale. I found the ribbon I'm using 2/$1 at Michael's. They have excellent sales on their ribbon pretty often.

I bought the metal clips in-store at Sally's for dirt cheap. I can't remember exactly, but I want to say they were $9.99 for a box of 200? They were on sale
and I have a Sally's discount card so I got a very good deal on them!

I bought the ladybug appliques online at the Boutique Store on Ebay. I got 40 of them for $6.50. Shipping is $3 - but you can save money by combining shipping.
Boutique Store has a ton of cute inexpensive appliques that you can turn into sweet little clippies to match every outfit in your child's closet!

But trying looking around Ebay and Etsy for better prices - you just might find somewhere cheaper!

Total Price for one set:
.24¢ for each ladybug applique
.5¢ for each clip
.05¢ for 2 pieces of 4 3/4" ribbon
-------------------------
.63¢ for the set!

THANK YOU to my FB Fans for figuring out the ribbon price for me!!

Oh and don't forget to figure in your time too - about 10/15 minutes! That's including the mess-ups!

Okay here we go!

1. Cut a piece of ribbon around 4 3/4" long.
2.Use fray check or a lighter to seal the ends.
3. Squeeze the clip open, and put a strip of hot glue on the bottom prong as in picture 2.
4. Place the ribbon over the strip of hot glue, gently rub it in place.
5. Flip the clip over, add another strip of hot glue on the
same prong, then fold the ribbon over and gently rub it in place.

Tip: Try not to pull the ribbon too tight or it'll become skewed. I've messed up a lot of clippies by pulling too tight on the ribbon! Take your time too, once that hot glue sets, you really can't pull up the ribbon and try again!

6. Put a small amount of hot glue near the clip's spring - right where the arrow is pointing in the 1st picture.
7. Fold the ribbon over, and hold in place with your thumb until the glue dries - refer to picture 2.
8. Following the arrow in picture 3, apply a strip of hot glue to the last bit of ribbon.

9. Fold the ribbon over, and gently rub in place.
10. Position the ladybug applique however you like using hot glue.
11. Repeat all the steps for the second ladybug clippie.
12. To make a cute display card, cut four lines in the card stock with the x-acto knife or a razor blade (refer to the 3rd picture), then just clip the LadyBug clippies in place!

Personalize your decorative display card:
buy blank card stock and print your own design on the card!
I might try that next time!

All done!
